HyperCom: a Dream Come True

HyperCom  a Dream Come true. by FromiMclau  Imvu-HyperCom Sun Dec18 2011: This Sunday morning at 09:10 PST there were several visitors at the place of HyperCom where the first prototype for a Hypercommunity is being built. Although the construction  is not finished yet the location has become a public place. Every one may come and enjoy the wonderful view.

Today HyperCom had several visitors. It is now a public place, every one may go there and enjoy the beautiful place and the view from above while riding on a glider or a flying carpet. HyperCom Essentials

The managerial details  of  this project and its technicalities are very interesting to know and juicy for a chat;  I could talk for hours and write many pages about that because  Hypercom has many  purposes and I am a sponsor for them,  but  I don’t want to delve on that  now. I’d rather want to express my satisfaction and joy for this happening because it is a dream come true. Building a place where the spirit is awakened and you may gather and talk with your friends or people you don’t know and share a visual experience and  a conversation you  won’t easily forget because this place summons your best part to come out and communicate.

Experimenting Hypercom

We have been talking for quite a while, then came the topic of Christmas and what if we gather in that date to celebrate together for a while. Then we came to realize the three of us lived in a different time zone. Riley lived in Europe, her time was 18:15. MakNarth lives in Chile his time was 15:15 and mine 09:15 PST. So we were many hours apart. We couldn’t celebrate year end dates at the same time. Of course we can gather any way. That's a fact of this hypercommunity idea. It makes you acknowledge in practical terms  that there is a great time gap between persons in different longitudes of the globe. After that we were silent for a while and then came the realization that it was 4 of us in there:  Riley, MarkNarth, me and the curvature of the earth. Year End Program: Starting  Dec 23 until January 1st 2012. Before that,  some trial days to measure general performance.  Probably a rotation of a limited playlist of clips including advertisement spots and programs. May be 4x6 or 6x4 with some variations and allowances for LIVE webcast. During the first week trial days many clips on backstages activities will be broadcasted once or twice and then never again. The reason for using such raw material is evaluating perfomance of the different sizes, formats and sources. A technical activity. There will be some adjustments in the graphic design. Labels, banners used for the pilot tests were improvised. They will be replaced by the ones still in the drawing pan yet.

HyperCommunity on the go Hermiawnee A wizard hired by TheMorrningNews board of directors, sponsors, owners and investors to build the first hypercommunity in Imvu ever.   Jumping from magic to engineering to give HyperCom a viewable shape. Hypercommunities are nucleated and formed by integration of rooms by different owners. Hypercom is a project to make a prototype for this idea. Hypercom will connect some portion of their respective realm  to a common place. The project HyperCom-01 is funded by a group of selected neighbours who are  willing to participate,  build their respective space  within a common room and pay for it.

The Room HyperCom already open for tourists HyperCom: Stands for HyperCommunity and it refers to the first attempt to build a real scale model of what a hypercommunity would be. HyperCom is the name of the project promoted and funded by the newspaper TheMorningNews (TMNews)(local in Imvu); its Constructor and Engineer in Chieff is Hermiawnee who was hired recently by the board of directors.

A Saudi woman was beheaded after being convicted of practicing "witchcraft and sorcery," according to the Saudi Interior Ministry, at least the second such execution for sorcery this year. The woman, Amina bint Abdulhalim Nassar, was executed in the northern Saudi province of al-Jawf on Monday. A source close to the Saudi religious police told Arab newspaper al Hayat that authorities who searched Nassar's home found a book about witchcraft, 35 veils and glass bottles full of "an unknown liquid used for sorcery" among her possessions. According to reports, authorities said Nassar claimed to be a healer and would sell a veil and three bottles for 1500 riyals, or about $400. According to the ministry, Nassar's death sentence was upheld by an appeals court and the Saudi Supreme Judicial Council. Philip Luther, the interim direct of Amnesty International's Middle East and North Africa program, condemned Nassar's killing, calling it "deeply shocking." "The charges of 'witchcraft and sorcery' are not defined as crimes in Saudi Arabia and to use them to subject someone to the cruel and extreme penalty of execution is truly appalling," Luther said. Luther said that a charge of sorcery is often used by the Saudi government as a smokescreen under which they punish people for exercising freedom of speech. Nassar was not the first person to be executed for alleged witchcraft by the Saudi government this year. In September, a Sudanese man was publicly decapitated with a sword in the city of Medina after he was found guilty of the same crime. According to Amnesty International, at least 79 people have been executed in Saudi Arabia so far in 2011, more than three times as many as in 2010. The human rights group condemned the kingdom's reliance on capital punishment.

When the news is the news.

Some inside news.

As a general rule, a newspaper seldom wants to be the central topic for its own news. However, there are some occasions deserving  such an exception, especially if they relate to some sensitive part of a new strategy or paradigm preached by the publishers.

And  this is the case, for this news.

There are two main lines in this paper’s policy and strategy.  One is promoting hypercommunities and the other starting a new deal with specialists living in Imvu such as creators, experts and persons who are just looking for a job.

For people who are reading the term hypercomunities for the first time, we suggest they read some articles on the concept published in prior editions.  But we may share that our challenge in that field is building a worldwide ring of interconnected rooms. That is, starting in one room, you will be able to go around  the world and reach the same point from where you started by following a map to find the portals from one room to the next.

We forsee a future with many associated creators, contractors, assistants, consultants, free-lancers or appointed persons in a permanent position in the organization,  to deal with a variety of new needs.

At present, as it happens with most enterprises of great pitch and moment, we are humbly starting by taking some first steps: 

New Contractor	A contractor to build some studio articles has been hired: to build some studio articles for the video production of the series Hunt for AfterHours News to build a video streaming channel for that section deliver training on basic publishing techniques to new columnists in the writing team.
	HadaLyla is the right person for this job. She has the skills and experience and will be of great assistance in our team building activities. Last year she was the Art Director/Producer  of a dancing event for the IDD-2010* celebration in April 2010. As a result,  a set of clips were produced and posted on a video channel (see youtube.com/tvlyla). *(IDD-2010: (UNESCO) International Day of Dance 2010)
New Columnists	A new columnist has joined the writing team. Cheering1666, our new columnist, has shown a great enthusiam, energy and desire to work with us in our written and video productions. Miss Cheering is undergoing a period of training,  She has been  in Imvu since mid August this year and lives in California.
Other related news	An interesting  seminar on profiling is being compiled by a team of experts which will be delivered to our columnists as an important part of their training. Same seminar in a second edition will be available for public soon afterwards. Dates and deadlines for these activities are quite elusive at the moment due to other matters demanding attention at the end of the year and some budgets restrictions as well.

Understand Economy According to the sacred scriptures of the Wikipedia: Scarcity is the fundamental economic problem of having humans who have unlimited wants and needs in a world of limited resources. It states that society has insufficient productive resources to fulfill all human wants and needs. Alternatively, scarcity implies that not all of society's goals can be pursued at the same time; trade-offs are made of one good against others. In an influential 1932 essay, Lionel Robbins defined economics as "the science which studies human behavior as a relationship between ends and scarce means which have alternative uses." (Half true half false as every deceiving work by the devil) But that is Bull***t, because it makes people think all things are always scarce and some good soul has to take charge of their administration, management and ownership to ensure everyone has a chance to get a drop  or infinitesimal share  of some asset available. In many parts of the world they own natural resources as water, land, oil and pretend owning the air, outerspace, the Antarctica and in some countries they would like to own your time, sexual life,  thoughts and everything. The key element is scarcity. That is true, but most of times the economists make scarcity out of abundance on purpose to secure prices to their employers. We have known of milk, oranges, tomatoes, potatoes, being spilled, burnt, thrown to the sea, made disaapear to secure a price in the market. Consider that Poverty is scarcity of resources. Misery is having resources and not making use of them. It is misery that brings along poverty, not the reverse as usually believed Yeah, by this terms throwing milk to the sea or burning food to secure a price is misery. (A corollary of this: if you have a brain and don't use it, probably your are miserable) Well, this part is just to make one point: Economy is not for dreamers Let' s move to a more positive and optimistic mood: You won't be an economist making scarce what is abundant. You will identify things that are scarce around you so that you may find a solution for it and make some proffit out of that.

Understand Economy in Imvu Usually,  the Imvu suggestion to make big money is becoming a creator and also working in some part-time jobs as video watching, doing peer-reviews, and others. But Imvu gurus certainly miss some potential markets so far. The services within Imvu. AP is for  people wanting an enhanced Imvu experience, VIP for people who need a distinction token, Badges for helping express indentity. But there are other needs that are not really met by any service or product yet. The purpose of this part is not to elaborate on the Imvu Business, which we  may consider just as an entertainment provider. The real focus is on the opportunities you may find within the realm of Imvu, from the standpoint of an Imvu dweller.

Understand Technology  (I will leave this topic blank to be elaborated in an article on next weekend edition)

Physical Principles and Scarcity This part  is for drooling nerds;  if you want, you may skip it This not an economy course for an MBA, nor for a Master or Phd on Economy. People who are in these programs are meant to learn gain money for their employers and  themselves  while keeping the rest as poor as they can. This text on Economy is meant to help Imvu dwellers understand a real economy mechanism and how to make use of it to become a little more rich  or less poor than they are. You won’t get a diploma after reading this but a better view of the spot  you are standing on. Some Physical principles and the Control of Scarcity (Law of Bernoulli, in Fluid Dynamics) The Finger at the Exit of the Hose (fire hose enhancer) It is a common experience in life that when you are watering your lawn, holding your rubber hose, you usually put your finger at the exit of the hose to control the flow of water. The scarce elements here are space, time, food, air, water, everything the farmer has in abundance, while living in the country. Back then, when the farmer lived in the country,  it was he who controlled the price of oranges, wheat and vegetables. Now that the farmer lives downtown in a small room or apartment it is the Mall owner who controls the price. Finger in the Portal Attracting  bored people from the Real World to connect wires in Matrix Fashion to wake up in a room and meet guys who only know to speak one words sentences like“Ok”,”Wsup”, “gtg” and start a living trying to learn to do simple things like walking, listening to music, playing a video, inviting friends and enjoy the realm more than the outer world, is very much like the farmer’s story in the paragraph above. The scarce elements are manifold. Focus in what you may provide Become a Contractor Become a Consultant Be a provider Industry is just one  way to provide,  that is becoming a creator. But, you may also provide services. Innovations, some ideas: 1.-You know that at some hours of the day there are 100,000 persons on line, in Imvu. At other times  150,000 and at another 50,000; all from 70-90 countries in the world. But that’s not enough information. May I ask what countries? And what people? How about a distribution according to timezone or hemisphere. That would be useful. So,  if you want to get paid for your time, you may work in doing such a study, survey or whatever it takes for making a good table or graph. Every one can do a survey and guess,  but it takes time. What if one guy uses his idle or spare time to do that work and provide a report to the rest of the people? He would become a rich guy in less than a week. 2.-When you need a new item for your outfit, a new dress or pants to go to a party you just buy what you find in the first two pages in the shop. Why not have reviewers of products who can advise about items in  page number 79, for instance?

Scan your Market	Go out and explore the world, talk with people, observe your surroundings, ask questions, record answers, keep them to think over them afterwards
Find your Options and Opportunities	Indentify needs that are not satisfied by any services or product and think of what you may provide
Take your Best choice and work hard on it	Take the hint which is nearest to your present possibilities, gather the necessary resources; if you can’t do it alone ask some friends for help or assistance and start working.

Hunting Season: Be prepared You may know the existence of seasonal markets. You cannot chase the same prey all through the year. You need to draw a calendar with the seasons, dates marked for you to be able to prepare yourself before hand. Study your market, know the needs, costs, prices, know what you can do and how long it takes you to make, build or prepare the package you have to deliver to your customer. The reasoning here is making sure you have  a spoon in your  hand when it starts raining soup, instead of a fork.
	Prepare your tackle and go fishing It’s a little bit different from hunting. In hunting you need tracking and following your prey. When you go fishing all you need is a good pond with hungry fish in it. Attractive products and services and a good price are the best bait. Gadgets may vary according to what your are targeting for your frying pan (a trout or a whale, for instance).
Every one in Imvu needs some service. New users, aka noobies, may need information, teaching, guidance, advice. Oldtimers may need more sophisticated  services and products. Creators, although they are very smart and clever, usually they need promotion. Whatever you may provide will boost Imvu economy and of course yours

Epilog: Well, I will leave this article up to this point. I know it is not perfectly complete by its own terms, but it is a good try and start. I will finish by saying that there are some  new emerging trends such as  the invitation to participate in seminars on some  topics which may eventually enable some people to work as part time consultants within Imvu. Also some contests to apply for funds or to become a contractor for building some assets.
