Why the NutCracker should be awarded a medal of honor.

It was in 2005 when Hurricane Katrina stroke the South Atlantic Coasts of the USA and we knew about the floods and disasters in New Orleans. The aid of relief was late. Seven years later we may know that story with all details. But there are some  stories that remain hidden and anonymous; one of them has to do with the Nutcracker Ballet.

The Nutcracker Ballet is by far the most widely known in the states. Every year more than 400 productions are staged for it by both amateur and professional companies all through the states of the union.

In  one of the dancenet.org site forums a S.O.S. was written by a 12 years old girl who told about the floods in her neighborhood in New Orleans. She was very worried and sad because the flood had taken away the place where she and her group were rehearsing the Nutcracker. The water had taken away their rehearsal costumes, tutus and slippers. Her worry was that if they didn’t recover their dancing equipment they wouldn’t be on time for the the presentation of the Nutcracker for Christmas.

Immediately, a wave of solidarity was raised and aid and slippers were sent to New Orleans. The city could wait years to be reconstructed but the Nutcracker couldn’t be put off for a later date. The Nutcracker fans dancenet groups, one of the greatest and more widely extended  social networks, in the states and in the world, was the first to answer the call for help from New Orleans Alabama in 2005.

That is why the NutCracker should be awarded
a medal of honor.

Blessed be the Nutcracker. He would  be one of the first Russian to be awarded a medal and hailed as a heroe.
